BISHOP
FRED E. HILL

Bishop Hill is a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Also, he is an inspiring preacher, teacher, and counselor, but most of all, Bishop Hill is a believer in every sense of the word. In the spirit of love, he gives generously of his time to strengthen and advise leaders in the faith concerning ministry and administration. 

Bishop Fred E. Hill was born January 12, 1953, in Pensacola, Florida. He is the only son of three children born to the late Arthur D. and Alice Herring Hill. Bishop Hill attended Pensacola Public Schools where he graduated from Washington High School. As a high school student, he was active in NJROTC and track. He graduated from Washington High School on June 9, 1971.


Bishop Hill enlisted in the United States Navy a week after graduating from high school.  His faithful and devoted service was recognized and rewarded throughout his enlistment. 


Bishop Hill met Deborah Denise Nixon on February 1, 1974. She shared the need for salvation with him. Consequently, Bishop Hill was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ and filled with the Holy Ghost on July 4, 1974 Bishop Hill completed his Navy enlistment on June 16, 1975, in Norfolk, VA. Two days later the Lord blessed him to begin a twenty-eight-year career as a civil servant.  Three weeks later, July 4, 1975, he was married to his soul mate, Deborah Denise Nixon by Bishop William J. Faison of Bibleway Apostolic Holiness Church (Chesapeake, VA). They have two sons (Marcus and Calvin), one daughter (Alexis), and ten grandchildren. 


Bishop Hill entered his civil service career as a Supply Clerk (GS-3). He received several promotions and advanced to a Technical Specialist Supervisor (GS-13). Bishop Hill was responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining several data processing systems. In addition, he officiated as his command chaplain on numerous occasions, and served an EEO Committee Chairman.


Bishop Hill continued his education and graduated from Tidewater Community College (Virginia Beach, VA) in 1988 with an Associate in Science degree in General Studies. Afterward, he graduated from Regent University (Virginia Beach, VA) in 1999 with a Master of Arts Degree in Counseling. 


Bishop Hill has been laboring in The Lord’s Harvest for the past 42 years. He is a strong leader with many academic, community and ministerial credits to his name. He is an apostolic bishop who, after his initial call to the ministry, never ceased to promote the cause of Christ effectively.


Bishop Hill has served as senior pastor of Emmanuel Way of the Cross Church- formerly Apostolic Holiness Church of Sedley, VA- since 1983.

In the spirit of love, he gives generously of his time to strengthen and advise leaders in the faith concerning ministry and administration. 


Bishop Hill was consecrated to the bishopric in January 2001 and has served in many organizational leadership roles including that of Vice Presiding Bishop of Kingdom Fellowship International headquartered in Baltimore, Maryland. The highest academic award conferred upon him to date is the honorary Doctor of Divinity from the Shiloh Theological Seminary in Stafford, VA.
